Yes, we insure all manner of instruments and accessories - if you can play it we can insure it! We just need to know the make, model and value of the item to tailor your quote.
Should the policy be in my child’s name as they are the musician?
No, we are legally unable to offer a policy to a minor. The policy should be taken out by a parent or guardian over the age of 18. Our policies extend to the policy holder and immediate family, so, if there are a number of musicians in the same household all instruments and accessories can be covered by the same policy.
Will my son/daughter’s instrument still be covered if they take it to University?
Yes, it will. Whilst they still return home in term-time breaks the policy will cover them at university, subject to appropriate cover being in place e.g. UK/Ireland.
Can I take my instrument abroad?
You can certainly travel with your instrument but please ensure you have appropriate cover in place i.e. Europe or Worldwide. The higher levels of cover may be arranged for the policy year if you travel regularly, alternatively, if it is a one-off trip we can arrange a temporary uplift for you. We would only require the dates of travel and to be advised of which instrument(s) you will be taking.
Can I leave my instrument unattended in a car?
With the exception of Home and Student level policies, all of our policies include unattended vehicle cover as standard. We require the vehicle to be fully enclosed, secured and the items be placed out of sight within the boot (where practicable) and you have activated the vehicle alarm system and/or immobiliser (if fitted).
What is the excess?
The excess is £15 on a claim.
We are a group/band/school/organisation, are you able to offer us insurance?
Yes, we can. We just require an itemised list of instruments and accessories to tailor your quote.
Can I change my policy mid-term?
Yes, you can make amendments at any point throughout the policy year. Feel free to let us know of any changes quoting your policy number. Any applicable charges will be prorated - some small changes may even be free of charge! If any instruments are removed a pro-rata refund will be calculated, this will then be refunded to your payment method.
Will you pass on my information to third parties?
The only time your information will be shared with a third party is directly in relation to the administration of your policy or claim.
Do you offer Public Liability Insurance?
We include £1m Public Liability free of charge for individual policies. Should you require a higher level or group cover please feel free to contact us.
Can I cancel my policy?
You can cancel your policy at any time, if it is within the first 14 days you are entitled to a full refund as long as there is no claim made in the meantime, thereafter a pro-rata refund will be given.
What does the term ‘New for Old’ mean?
‘New for Old’ means that if your instrument is insured for the current retail value you will be able to replace it with a new instrument regardless of age or condition. However, if in the event of your instrument being written off you would want to replace with a second-hand instrument, you are welcome to insure for the current market value. We will accommodate whichever suits your needs best.
Can I lend my instrument to my friend?
Yes, you are welcome to lend your instrument to a friend for a short period, however, please note that your excess may be affected if damaged whilst in their care. If you are considering lending your instrument to anyone please contact us with the dates so we may amend your level of cover as appropriate, if required.
What happens if i haven't updated my instrument values in a while?
We do recommend carefully reviewing your instrument values, especially at renewal time, to ensure you have sufficient cover for your instrument(s). However, we know how busy life can be! If you needed to claim and are unable to provide a recent valuation you would just be asked to source a couple of replacements to demonstrate current market value. If you prefer to benefit from 'new for old cover' for our customers who insure their harps with us we are able to annually automatically update the prices of your harp(s) in line with current retail values - we just need your written permission to do so.
